Let us do the work for you! There are so many opinions and contradictions on how to approach yoga asana that it can be confusing for even an experienced, educated, and well intentioned teacher or practitioner. Research is limited, tradition is diverse, and experience varies.

 Studio Owner Story

As a yoga studio owner for more than 16 years, yoga teacher and, a teacher trainer, Stephanie struggled with how to set a standard for asana teachers at her two small-town studios. Teachers would approach her with lots of experience, and powerful awareness and presence, so she would give them a class on the schedule.

Because her studios had developed a unique culture of understanding basic human movement mechanics, many of her students would approach her and ask why the new teacher was teaching something inconsistent with what they had learned.

When she approached a teacher with this feedback they were often offended that their training or experience was being questioned. This is in no way was the fault of the teacher. Yoga teachers have not, traditionally, been trained in biomechanics. This is a new standard that is being asked of us, and one that is essential to empowering a life long practice.

... What SAYF Instructors are Saying ...

“The immediately applicable guidance offered by SAYF is most useful. Knowing anatomy does little good if you cannot functionally apply it to your practice of teaching. Because this training emphasizes critical thinking about action, limitation, and alignment, it can immediately benefit any participant, regardless of their current level of anatomy knowledge.”  ~ Richelle Ricard, LMT

“SAYF training provides a thorough and well-rounded explanation of the latest scientific guidance for safe and sustainable asana practice while also respecting and honoring traditional yogic techniques. The intertwining of classic and cutting edge asana information as unique and very valuable.” ~ Anonymous

“SAYF was valuable, challenging and comprehensive. It was practical for improving my understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. It helped me improve my practice and teaching skills. The combination of imagery, videos and text helped deepen my learning. SAYF provides information that you can return to time over time, to deepen your knowledge to take care of yourself and students, if you're teaching.” ~ RER
