Elevate Your Teaching & Grow Your Community: Become a SAYF Ambassador!

Aug 09, 2021

Community, Passion, Inspiration & Authenticity

Great yoga teachers embody four key characteristics: community-focus, passion, inspiration, and authenticity. One of the things yoga teachers cherish the most about the journey is the genuine, encouraging people we meet and the meaning these connections bring to our lives. Community and connection are cornerstones of the SAYF Ambassador program. In addition to growth and support, SAYF community creates opportunities for both collaboration and referrals.

SAYF Ambassadors are community leaders who truly care about their students’ practice, and are looking to join a network of yoga teachers, schools, and studios to collaborate with through the SAYF platform, education, and resources. Becoming a SAYF Ambassador will not only help you build and expand your community, but SAYF Certification will also empower you to create safer and more accessible classes. Finally, SAYF Certification will enhance your professional development and credibility while earning CE hours and insurance discounts.

SAYF Ambassadors work with Sustainable Asana Yoga Foundation leadership toward two main goals:

  1. Expand training in human movement mechanics and empowered body awareness.

  2. Build a community of successful yoga instructors and studios that honor all body types, abilities, and skill levels, while reducing the likelihood of asana injury.

Are you community driven, passionate about yoga, and inspired to share from your authentic voice?

SAYF is a sacred and welcoming community born from the yoga experience. The heart of our work is educating, supporting, and connecting with yoga students, teachers and studios to share the transformative benefits of yoga.

Teachers, studio owners, and teacher training program directors are all community leaders. As a leader, it is an important responsibility to protect your people, and to protect yourself. Together, we can reduce the likelihood of students discontinuing their practice due to injury. Most students don't tell their teacher they got injured, they just quit coming to class. When they quit asana, they often also miss out on the psycho-emotional and spiritual benefits of yoga. The SAYF community sees yoga as a life practice, not just a mat practice.

SAYF supports teaching inclusive and accessible classes, while also providing a foundation for consistency in yoga studios while honoring creativity and diversity. SAYF is a movement built through community born from the yoga experience. Becoming a SAYF Ambassador will plug you into this network, broadening your community and collaborative potential.

Share Your Inspiration

We are calling all who are passionate about yoga & inspired to share! The primary role for SAYF Ambassadors is to amplify the message of SAYF Movement! As yoga has grown throughout the world, so has yoga related injury. There is an unmet need for basic understanding of human movement mechanics in much of the greater yoga community. Recently, Yoga Alliance recognized this by adding yoga biomechanics as a requirement in their enhanced standards for RYT 200 teacher training programs. 20 hours of that Yoga Alliance requirement can be trained online.

As a 20 hour online, affordable, yoga biomechanics program (and more!) SAYF is a great option for satisfying the need for better understanding of how our bodies move and how we can all reduce the likelihood of yoga injury through understanding basic principles like load, progression, and range of motion.

More About the SAYF Training

There are so many opinions and contradictions on how to approach yoga asana that it can be confusing for even the most experienced, educated, and well intentioned teacher or practitioner. Research is limited, tradition is diverse, and experience varies. This is why we need your help to grow awareness of sustainable asana standards within the yoga community.

SAYF Ambassadors save $100 of their SAYF Training/Certification, as well as other awesome benefits! In exchange, Ambassadors share their experience of the SAYF Training through 3 Social Media Posts and by creating and growing online community by engaging within SAYF groups, posts and pages. Tell Me More about Becoming a SAYF Ambassador

Professional Development that Uplevels Your Credibility

Take advantage of affordable and valuable professional development that uplevels your credibility! Credibility allows us to share what we love from an authentic place. When we invest in our professional development, our creativity flourishes and we find new ways to authentically share what we love about yoga.

Each body is different and every experience varies. For this reason, YOUR asana experience may be very different from some of your students’. Learning how to make asana more accessible to more people expands your potential to share yoga in your uniquely gifted and authentic way. The more you expose yourself to new ideas, your teaching continues to grow and emerge.

We can all agree that there are A LOT of 200-hr trained yoga teachers right now. This is good for a couple reasons. First, training to become a yoga teacher has amazing personal growth benefits. Second, finding creative ways to share yoga is important because yoga is so beneficial to our physical, mental, and spiritual health.

However, this also means that teachers may need to invest a bit more of their time and resources into training, if they really want to stand out and reach more people. Look for opportunities to enhance your training to become an even better teacher.

It’s also incredibly beneficial and meaningful to create community support through connecting and collaborating with others locally and beyond. Here are just a few of the ways that the SAYF program can help you build community, upgrade your professional development, and uplevel your teaching:

  • SAYF Training helps reduce the likelihood of asana injury for yourself and your students.

  • SAYF guides teachers and empowers asana practitioners to sustain a practice long enough to discover the psychological and personal/spiritual benefits of yoga.

  • Because yoga is more than just a series of poses and can be accessible for everyone if we empower teachers with the right training and tools.

  • SAYF Certification is an online, accessible, human movement mechanics training that satisfies the yoga biomechanics hours now required by Yoga Alliance’s newly enhanced RYT 200 standards.

  • As a SAYF Ambassador, you have the opportunity to become a recognized leader of the SAYF Movement through community and marketing collaborations.

  • 20 CE hours. Affordable continuing education credits for many organizations.

  • YOU will be listed on the SAYF-Certified Teacher Directory.

  • BeYogi Liability Insurance recognizes SAYF-Certified teachers as persons who have invested in their education and training to protect their people, practice, and business, so beYogi offers SAYF teachers discounted liability insurance rates.

  • SAYF Ambassadors will be eligible to apply to be featured speakers at future SAYF Summits.

  • You can add the “SAYF” acronym to your teaching name, just as you may use “RYT”, or other acronyms. For example:  Alex L. Doe, RYT, SAYF

Take it Further, Become a SAYF Movement Leader!

Select inspired SAYF Ambassadors will be invited to become SAYF Movement Leaders. If this is something you are interested in, you will serve as an important part of our grassroots effort to establish SAYF as an authentic cornerstone of the greater yoga community.
