SAYF Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training

Pregnancy is a time of extraordinary physical, physiological, and emotional change. The SAYF Prenatal Yoga Teacher Certification gives yoga teachers and movement professionals the knowledge and practical skills to confidently support students throughout pregnancy and into postpartum. This evidence-informed training explores pregnancy physiology and biomechanics, trimester-specific considerations, breath and pelvic floor function, core and pressure management, common discomforts, contraindications and red flags, and appropriate modifications for both dedicated prenatal classes and regularly scheduled yoga classes. A central component is an in-depth 20-pose prenatal yoga library, taught through SAYF’s progressive cueing approach. You’ll learn how to layer options, use props, adapt poses as pregnancy progresses, and support each student’s individual body and experience. You’ll also learn to sequence prenatal classes that integrate mobility, functional strength, stability, circulation, breath, nervous-system regulation, rest, and preparation for birth. Beyond movement, the training explores the important role prenatal yoga can play in creating community and connection, while helping teachers maintain clear professional boundaries and understand when referral to healthcare or birth professionals is appropriate. By the end of the training, you’ll be prepared to teach dedicated prenatal yoga classes, confidently welcome pregnant students into appropriate general classes, and offer individualized options throughout pregnancy and the transition into postpartum movement.
